Xbox Series X is the Official Name of the Next Xbox Console

By Choysauce • December 13, 2019

Xbox Series X is the official name of the upcoming next generation Xbox console.

Formerly known as Project Xbox Scarlett, the new console’s design is finally revealed to be like that of a mini computer tower. The top of the console has some heating vents with green lighting effects, so make sure to keep this in an open air environment. The controller itself seems relatively the same as the Xbox One controller except it now has a dedicated share button.

Phil Spencer reveals that there is a new features they’re calling Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Dynamic Latency Input (DLI) that will “make Xbox Series X the most responsive console ever.” He also says the console is designed for a future with cloud gaming in mind.

The specs of the Series X are also very impressive with having a custom CPU based on the AMD Zen 2 and Radeon RDNA architecture. It will also use an NVMe SSD hard drive which should help with load times. The Series X will also support 8K, 120 fps gaming, variable refresh rate support, and ray tracing.

There hasn’t been any fighting games announced yet for either the Xbox or PS5, but we’ll likely see more titles coming to both consoles this coming generation. With the growing popularity of cross play, it should be a great boon for fighting game players overall regardless of which console anyone gets.

No price is confirmed yet, but you can get your hands on the new Xbox next holiday season in 2020.

To see the early graphical capabilities of the Xbox Series X, Microsoft showed off the announcement trailer for Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga.
