Capcom Pro Tour 2020 Bringing Many New Changes to the Tour

By Choysauce • December 16, 2019

Capcom Pro Tour 2020 will be bringing a lot of new changes to the format.

The new season will start in March of 2020 with a total of 40 qualifying spots. The entire tour will be split into 2 separate seasons with the global leaderboard points resetting in July of 2020. Only 8 players will be able to qualify for each of the seasons.

The rest of the qualifying spots will be won through “World Warrior” challenges. 22 winners will qualify through this system starting in August of 2020.

The remaining 2 qualifying spots have not been announced, but it most likely will be reserved for another Last Chance Qualifier event.

*edit* adjusted the date for Combo Breaker and added Japan Premier

The official Capcom Pro Tour Premier events of 2020 are as follows:

  • Brussels Challenge – March 20-22
  • SEA Major – TBD
  • The Mixup – April 18-19
  • Japan Premier
  • Texas Showdown – May 1-3
  • Combo Breaker – TBD
  • BAM – May 29-31
  • CEO – June 26-28
  • Game Over – July 4-5
  • VS Fighting – August 21-23
  • PPL – TBD
  • East Coast Throwdown – October 2-4
  • First Attack – October 24-25
  • The Fight – TBD

The Capcom Cup Finals for 2020 are slated to be held in Paris, France.

Does this mean we might see a new French fighter? Or might we see Abel or Remy come back into the fray for another season of DLC for SFV:CE? Your guess is as good as ours.
