The Covid-19 pandemic has shaken up the pro tour circuit for all games. The Capcom Pro Tour had to sadly cancel its entire tour like many others. But today they’ve just announced details for a new CPT Online 2020 series.
CPT Online will have 18 online regional tournaments will take place and the winners of each will automatically qualify for Capcom Cup 2020. The winner of Capcom Cup 2019, iDom, will be given a free slot to compete. The final slot will be awarded through a community vote. The vote will have 31 finalists to choose from (more details to come on this process).
The first event to kick this new series off will be for the North American East Region on June 6, 2020. You can see the new full schedule here.
The Capcom Cup Finals were originally slated to be held in Paris, France but now will take place in the United States in the first quarter of 2021.
