Daisuke Ishiwatari on Beginner Mechanics for New Guilty Gear Game
Daisuke explains his take on developing with beginners in mind
By Choysauce • September 13, 2019
Daisuke Ishiwatari, the creator and developer of the Guilty Gear Series, gave an interview to Famitsu regarding the newest iteration of GG.
He explains that instead of creating beginner mechanics for the game, he wants to redesign it from the ground up to be simpler and not too difficult. They’re hoping this approach helps to make the gateway into playing Guilty Gear a bit wider. Part of the process is to make the game not LOOK difficult and have people who don’t play be able to understand what is going on.
There are a few translations out there, but the translation from Xiei (@XiePlus) is being corroborated as a very well nuanced translation.
You can see Xie’s translation of the important section of the interview below:
Translated (and edited) a question from the #GuiltyGear2020 interview on my lunch break. I think there was a lot of nuance to the answer from Ishiwatari and Katano, so I tried my best to keep that in their responses.https://t.co/Xu7VRKRcVM pic.twitter.com/AtgFStAPsS
