Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios is back again with his thoughts about the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate meta. While his top tier is fairly predictable (Pikachu, Peach/Daisy, Zero Suit Samus, and Joker), one of his bolder claims is that Byleth can be useful as a high-level counterpick and “has a lot of potential.” In fact, he places the newest Fire Emblem character as “solo main viable, but barely,” which is a much more optimistic assessment than the current consensus. For those who can stomach the presence of yet another swordie in the game, it’ll be interesting to see just how high up Byleth can climb.
Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, Little Mac is still in the basement: he’s the lone occupant of Barrios’s lowest tier. What else is new?
